A programme of meetings inspired by boundless multi-materiality, designed to show customers how to exploit the potential of any material. An opportunity to reflect on the challenges in the world of design and on the living environments of the future, thanks to the involvement of special guests, whose contributions will enhance the value of Made in Italy culture, highlighting its qualities, “know-how”, practical and aesthetic function and finally, its human, emotional side.
Key themes at the meetings include the challenges and opportunities within the design world in the near future, the need for dialogue and networking between key players in the supply chain, and last but not least, sustainability as an absolute priority. Rethinking processes, designing and manufacturing in a sustainable manner, limiting waste and using natural materials where possible: today, these considerations have gone beyond being a mere trend, becoming an absolute necessity.
“We have selected,” adds Laura Alesi, Marketing Manager Italy Market, “unique and iconic locations that evoke the distinctive nature of our Bel Paese, such as Milan, the world capital of design, the marble quarries of Carrara, an open-air museum, and Venice, the beating heart of glass design. These magical places share a long history, but at the same time, are always evolving and changing, stimulating our imaginations. Indeed, our vision is precisely this: to stimulate the imagination with a view to improving people's daily lives.”
The second stop on this tour took place in Venice on 30 May, and was dedicated to glass. A unique, extraordinary, high-performance and 100% recyclable material, which has always been at the heart of design.
Venice, the birthplace of Made in Italy glass, was the backdrop for this second date, which saw Biesse meeting with its guests at the IUAV University, Italy's only higher education institution entirely dedicated to teaching and research in the field of design disciplines, including architecture, planning (including city planning), design, etc.
During this event, leading names from the world of design spoke alongside authoritative figures in the field of research, including Professor Maria Antonia Barucco, coordinator of the Glass Cluster at IUAV, Elti Cattaruzza, Full Professor of Experimental Physics at the Ca' Foscari University in Venice, as well as entrepreneurs from the world of glass, such as Massimo Gobbini, CEO of Artelinea, and representatives from other leading companies. They discussed the most current issues in the industrial glass sector, including new trends in the design world, recent challenges at technological and procedural level, as well as the focus on recycling and on sustainability in general.
Fabrizio Cattaneo, Director of GIMAV - the association that unites Italian manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, accessories, equipment and special products for glass processing operations - was also present at this important event.
